One of great feature of Opera is that she can be customized to open media files in any media player you want, or maybe to save it on you disk, or show a dialogue box asking you what you want to do. But if you want to play media files immediately you can customize the context sensitive right-click popup menu. To do that fallow these steps:
- With Opera opened click Tools --> Preferences (Ctrl+F12)
- New window will open, go to Advanced tab and duplicate the Opera Standard menu and rename it to whatever you like. Inside C:\Program Files\Opera\profile\menu this will create additional file called standard_menu (1).ini
- I renamed this file to stp_menu.ini. You may not rename this file because it is optional. This modified *.ini file is just called menu.ini for the sake of brevity.
- Now Add: Item, "Open in Windows Media Player" = Copy link & Execute program, "wmplayer","%c" to the [Link Popup Menu] and [Image Link Popup Menu] sections in menu.ini (you can see it in table below)
- From Preferences, Toolbars and Menus select your customized menu.
